🏫 Today that the students are going back to school it is a good moment to talk about the “Pigmalion effect” or “Rosenthal effect”.
Such effect can be perfectly applied to the companies and to the sport. It is based on the observation that, when a teacher treats a student as a high potential, he (she) will increase his performance.
If the teacher treats the student as a low performer he (she) will act accordingly in the opposite way.
And it happens in many groups, not only at school.
It is a way to address one’s inner dialogue, heavily influencing his beliefs, and having an impact on one’s potential.
Moreover, such behaviour can spread from the teacher/Mgr/coach to the team members, who will treat the person at the same way.
🌸 I am telling that many times people with high potential need to change environment to flourish, changing school, company or team, meeting people who believe in them.
💪 And if in this moment you feel underrated, be conscious of the Pigmalion effect, and don’t let others to define you.
